Deadlines and Penalties

Deadlines

1

Property taxes were due for payment in full by June 30, 2026

Property owners should ensure that payments are made before the deadline.

If you pay by mail (cheque), you must ensure the letter is postmarked on or before June 30th.

It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to ensure that all online payments are processed by 30th June.

Where Property Taxes are paid directly by a mortgage company, the property owner is responsible for ensuring that the tax payment is made before the tax due date.

The deadline for 2026 property assessment appeals is Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Penalties

If you do not make your payment on time (in full) by June 30th, you will be charged a 12% penalty on the remaining balance.

Current year taxes and penalties (combined) that remain unpaid by December 31, 2026, become "tax arrears" and are subject to a further tax penalty of 15% effective January 1, 2027.

Any property to which property tax has been in arrears for more than one year will be subject to tax recovery proceedings as legislated in the Municipal Government Act.
